The first poem transfixed me and then when I arrived at the second one it didn’t have the same flow for me, fast and urgent after the slow meanderings of the first. Perhaps it was the spacing that made the difference for me yet even the first story told drew me closer in to it in a way the second me didn’t. I enjoyed that you shared both with us and I leave richer due to dropping by. Thank you.

It was so neat to get to write the poem into its new form and I did wonder if something of the first iteration’s intimacy would get lost. Maybe I will come back to it in a year and see if it wants to change form again as I rarely feel a poem is truly finished. Anyway, I appreciate your words and that you took the time to read. Thank you.

I am grateful that you took the time to read both and I enjoyed hearing about how you experienced the more meandering version. Both poems live in me equally and feel linked. You have the distinction of being the first person I don't know who has read my words on Substack - so thank you for that!
